Welcome
Welcome to the South Montgomery County Friends of the Library website. We are a group of volunteers who sort the books which are donated to the two libraries in the Woodlands each day, then sell them in our two used book shops and at our huge book sales in October and April. The profits from the sales of all these used books are used at the libraries on programs and supplies which aren’t covered by their county budget.
We are a non-profit group with a president, vice-presidents, secretary, treasurer and a number of committees. From time to time, our executive board meets with the Branch Managers of South Branch and Mitchell branch to hear what is going on at the libraries and to consider their requests for funds. Also, we are sometimes called upon to help with a variety of projects: volunteering our services to the librarians, decorating the branch for holidays or celebrations, supplying refreshments for special events, etc.
You would be amazed to see the volume of books and magazines that our generous citizens donate to the libraries. It is our pleasure to take these donations and ‘re-cycle’ them for others to enjoy.
Please refer to our schedule of events to see when our next meeting or book sale will be. If you are interested in joining the Friends of the Library, just download and print the form or stop by one of our book shops and pick one up.
It’s great being a Friend!
