Annual Book Sale 2025 - Watch for Updates!
Welcome to the South Montgomery County Friends of the Library (SMCFOL) website. We are a non-profit organization that supports the South Regional Library and the George and Cynthia Woods Mitchell Library which are branches of the Montgomery County Library System. Our contributions allow our two libraries to offer programs and resources beyond what their county budget covers.
SMCFOL has subsidized programs such as book clubs for tots, tweens, teens, and seniors, job fairs, family game nights, dancing classes, knitting classes, and Library Lite - a health and wellness program. SMCFOL also contributes money to purchase books and other media, supplies, and equipment not afforded by our libraries' annual budgets. The exceptional library staff conceives programs that make our libraries centers of fun and education for the entire community. SMCFOL helps the libraries to implement those plans.
SMCFOL generates revenue through our annual book sale, the proceeds from the two SMCFOL used book shops located in the two branches, and internet sales. Membership dues and contributions are additional sources of revenue.
Please refer to our current issue of The Bookworm for upcoming events. SMCFOL periodically holds General Meetings which are typically an entertaining and informative program on a variety of subjects. Be sure to stop in and explore the SMCFOL shop next time you're in the library. We offer paperbacks and hardcover books for all ages, recent magazines, DVDs, CDs, and audiobooks. New material arrives daily, so come in often!
