ANNUAL BOOK SALE
We recently completed the Annual Friends of the Library Book Sale. We held the sale at the Community Center and the conference room at the South Library. Due to space issues, we could not use the big room at the Community Center. Instead we used all the other rooms there for the sale of adult books and the library conference room for the sale of Children’s, YA, puzzles, games and Children’s DVDs.
At the Opening, Thursday evening, we had great attendance, having 115 people through the Community Center doors in the first three minutes of opening and about 70 plus coming through the library front doors in that timeframe. Due to the size of the rooms, at one point we had to limit admittance to the fiction room because of the number of people in the room and fire code limitations. Crowds were steady on Friday and Saturday morning and, of course, spiked with the Bag Sale on Saturday afternoon.
Overall the sale was good. By the close of the sale, we had sold 86.99% of our inventory. Two of our fellow FOLs, Stewart and Tullis, took much of the remaining books for sale in their shops. Sales and donations totaled $ 8,647. Thanks to all who attended the sale and to all the volunteers who made the sale happen. In the coming months, please consider donating your books, DVD’s, puzzles and games to the shops for sale. Remember, all proceeds from the shops and annual book sale are dedicated to supporting our libraries.
